2 MUCH My final for Design class is an animatic. The process here was a challenge, as I had never done an animatic before or any type of animation. I was unfamiliar with but learned iMovie in order to edit it together. We did an in-class brainstorming technique called an exquisite corpse. I was very fond of the exercise and my outcome, so I decided to take it all the way. Here's the corpse. The original drawing I started just had the head of a guy with a shaved head and sweet 'stache that may or may not resemble someone at Parsons.
I was pretty faithful to the drawing with the plot I devised. Then I drew out 30 frames with stick figures to help me plot the story. I put these directly into iMovie to experiment and learn the program, which was fairly easy. I tested this version with my class while I was working up the final character illustrations.
I decided to render everything in Illustrator because my drawings were so sketchy. This took FOREVER. Finding a song was also a challenge, because I didn't want any lyrics to interfere with reading the captions and dialogue. I played this for several people to test the concept and make sure the narrative was being conveyed to the viewer, and it got a lot of positive feedback. Let's go to the video!
It's not really a true story. I just thought that was funny. It's supposed to be surreal, not real real.
Here is my character sketch.
